Gameplay Highlights Edit

A short edit of your best plays from hours of gameplay, cut on the beat.

Pipeline
Basic edit (cut): cuts, captions, looks, speed, split screens, stock, voices and music.
Format
9:16
Upload
Your gameplay recording (long is fine) and, if you want, an intro clip and a music track.

The prompt

Type your own words into the fields: the [BLANKS] fill in as you go. Copy it and send it to Claude or ChatGPT with Cut Express connected.

Fill in

Empty fields stay as [brackets] in the copy.

Prompt

Make a [LENGTH IN SECONDS]-second 9:16 edit from my gameplay of [GAME]. Inspect it with moments and pick the best [WHAT COUNTS AS A HIGHLIGHT].

- Open on [OPENING] with the text "[HOOK LINE]" at the top: heavy font, white with a black stroke, one word in [CAPTION COLOR].
- Then hard cuts on the beat of [MUSIC], one play per cut, the game sound low under the music.
- End on the best moment: slow it down with a speed ramp, then freeze on it.
- Look: [LOOK] with a bit of sharpening. Fade the music out at the end.
Show me the moments you picked, with their times, before you render.

The blanks

[LENGTH IN SECONDS]
How long the finished video runs, as a number of seconds. Reels and Shorts hold best between 15 and 60.
[GAME]
The game's name, as your audience calls it.
[WHAT COUNTS AS A HIGHLIGHT]
What a great moment is in this game, for example "clutches and multi-kills" or "the grinds and the big jump".
[OPENING]
The first shot, for example "my facecam reaction" or "the intro clip I uploaded".
[HOOK LINE]
The first words on screen, the reason to keep watching, in under ten words.
[CAPTION COLOR]
The color of the highlighted word in the captions, as a name or a hex code like #FFD23F.
[MUSIC]
A track you uploaded (say its file name), or a mood and genre for the stock music search, like "upbeat lo-fi" or "cinematic, builds slowly".
[LOOK]
The color look by mood, for example "warm and soft", "teal and orange", "crisp and bright", "black and white", "film".

Tips

  • Say what a highlight is in your game. Moments finds where something happens; you know which of those matter.
  • Long recordings are fine. Moments ranks the stretches for free, and your AI zooms into the good ones.

New to prompting video? How to write a good prompt for Cut Express covers the story, the hook, captions, sound, pace and how to iterate with versions.

The real render behind this prompt

This prompt was written from one we used to make a video for this site. Here is that video and the exact prompt that made it.

The exact prompt
Make a 20-second 9:16 skate edit from the two clips I uploaded: a phone video of my laptop and a 4-minute recording of a skate game. Inspect the gameplay with moments and pick the best lines: the grinds, the ledges and the big jump.

Open on the laptop clip (2.4 s) with the text "out of tokens at **2AM**" at the top: Montserrat Black, white with a black stroke, "2AM" in yellow.
Then hard cuts on the beat of my track, one trick per cut, keeping the game sound low under the music.
End on the bail: slow it down, black and white, and freeze on it.
Look: a light crisp grade with a bit of sharpening. Fade the music out at the end.

Paste it in Claude. Get the MP4.

Stream Clip to Vertical With the Facecam on Top

A stream moment as a vertical clip, facecam on top and the game below.

Upload: Your stream recording (16:9, with the facecam in a corner).

My stream recording has the facecam in the [FACECAM CORNER] corner. Inspect it with moments and a transcript and find the best [LENGTH IN SECONDS]-second moment about [WHAT HAPPENED].

- 9:16 split screen in rows, ratio 0.35: on top, the facecam cropped out of the recording; below, the gameplay cropped around the action (same recording, same in and out).
- Captions from my speech in the middle seam: pop preset, highlight [CAPTION COLOR].
- Start one second before the action, end on my reaction.
- Denoise my voice a little. Show me the moment's times before you render.

Funny Moments Compilation From a Stream

A YouTube compilation of the funniest moments of a long stream.

Upload: One or more long stream recordings.

Make a [LENGTH IN SECONDS]-second 16:9 funny moments compilation from my stream of [GAME]. Inspect it with moments and a transcript: I want [NUMBER OF CLIPS] moments where [WHAT MAKES IT FUNNY].

- Each moment starts a beat before the joke and ends right after the laugh.
- A quick punch-in zoom on each punchline, a short title card between moments with a number ("#1", "#2"...) and a whoosh.
- Captions from the speech: clean preset, 2 lines.
- Keep the stream's own sound; denoise it a little.
List the moments with their times and the line that makes each one funny, then wait for my pick.

Shorts From One Long Video

Several vertical Shorts cut from one long video, each with captions.

Upload: One long video with speech (a podcast, a talk, a stream, a course lesson).

I uploaded [LONG VIDEO], about [TOPIC]. Inspect it with moments and a transcript, then find the [NUMBER OF CLIPS] strongest moments that make sense on their own, each about [LENGTH IN SECONDS] seconds.

Before you render, list them for me: the in and out times, the first line said and why it works as a hook. Wait for my pick.

For each one I pick:
- Start on the hook line, no warm-up. Cut the silences and the false starts on the speech.
- 9:16, cover crop kept on the speaker's face. A slow punch-in on the key sentence.
- Captions from the speech: bold preset, 3 words per line, the key word in [CAPTION COLOR], bottom third.
- Clean the voice (denoise and enhance). No music unless I ask.
Render each as its own video titled "[SERIES NAME] 1", "2", and so on.
